Rosh Hashanah!
I am more offended by celebrities such as Michael Vick and Paris Hilton that "find" God in hopes of gaining public acceptance and erasing their sins.
Do you think Jesus really wants to be thanked for Kathy Griffin's work?
Posted by: Bad Momma on September 14, 2007 10:01 AMSince I believe that every breath we take comes from the grace of God, then yes, I do believe we should thank him for the blessings we receive.
Or at least refrain from insulting him as a PR stunt.
The reason I'm not offended is that she didn't insult me, she insulted God, and I'm pretty sure he's capable of responding to Kathy Griffin without my assistance.
Posted by: rich on September 16, 2007 3:08 AMFreedom of speech is a wonderful thing. Kathy made a joke about idiots thanking 'god' for the most ridiculous things. Did a higher being help you find a parking space over some other Joe Schmoe? Did god really favor florida over the vols over the weekend? Did god really give a rats arse who won an Emmy over another equally qualified thespian?
Do you see the absurdity? That's what Kathy was making fun of and its a shame people are too small minded to understand that.
Oh, how dare she make fun of Jesus! I imagine, if god is real, he created humor and therefore in his perfect image he created Kathy Griffin, too, and her often sandpaper on the knuckles brand of laugh s.
God can be made fun of too. If he really cared is a vengeful as he was in the Old Testament, Kathy would be a pillar of salt by now.
There's a war in Iraq that god doesn't care about. There was a Holocaust that he didn't stop. There's an AIDS epidemic in Africa and god doesn't seem to mind. Personally, I'm offended by an absentee fish-bowl gawking style deity who doesn't even bother to check on his pets.
Really, maybe he stopped listening after all the times you thanked him for not chipping a nail or getting caught cheating on a final exam.
Maybe, god got a good chuckle out of Kathy Griffin's comment.
Stop taking things so seriously people.
P.S. Zeus, Jesus, venus, Mithras, Yahweh, Krishna, Gilgamesh, Jim Jones, Chales Manson, Isis, And Jose De Jesus (See: Jesus of Suburbia ABC News) can all suck it.
