Bowling for TV

I watched bits and pieces of several football games yesterday as the traditional "Day after New Year's Day because we don't want to interfere with the NFL" football orgy took place.

By the end of the day, the SEC went 3-3 with Auburn, South Carolina and Georgia all falling in defeat. At least they got to play in a bowl game.

But I was really annoyed all day by the ABC logo in the upper left corner of the screen. At the start of almost every play, they had a yellow flare on the logo that looked like a flag. It was very distracting, and while it didn't ruin the game, I hope they fix it before the games tonight and tomorrow.

Who's playing, again?

Two teams nobody in the South care about in the Orange Bowl.

And tomorrow, two teams everyone in the country are sick to death of hearing about in the Rose Bowl.

*yawn*

I didn't notice the yellow logo/flag on ABC, but I am constantly reminded how lame Fox's score/time ticker is - one horizontal line stretched across the top of the screen. In the Cotton Bowl you had:

TECH 10 BAMA 13 10:45 4th 2nd and 10 (FoxSports logo etc)

Which is almost impossible to read without starting at it for a few minutes to figure out where the dividing points are. Plus the logo on the right side takes up 1/4 of the screen width... It's the same for the NFC games, which is why I'm glad I like the AFC a lot more.

ESPN and CBS have the much easier to read square box in the upper left corner.
