Folks, it really must be the end times.
Today I find myself supporting Sheila Jackson Lee over President Bush.
(I'll pause for a moment to let skb clean the coffee off his monitor.)
Here's the thing: President Bush signed a law in Texas that alows hospitals to remove life support from terminal patients even if their legal guardian objects!
The law has been used twice now, and was about to be used in a third case, but the baby concerned died before the hospital could kill it.
Shiela Jackson Lee has promised to write federal legislation that would prevent hospitals from removing life support against the wishes of the legal guardians.
It's a measure of how far we've come that doctors have to be legally restrained from killing their patients.
