But I've been busier than usual trying to make a dollar or two, fend off the flu, and take care of my family, so when the pressure m,ounts and something has to give, well, this is one of the first things that gets put on hold.
But never fear folks, as things get back to normal, I'll be back, stronger than ever, despite any attempts by the Federal government to put restrictions on my speech.
The remainder of this post will be a rant, and will contain longuage I don't ordinarily use, so it will be below the fold.
It's about time we as citizens remind our federal government just who is the boss, and who is the servant. Where in the hell did these assholes get the lame idea that they could tell me what I can say and when I could say it?
"CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW...ABRIDGING THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH!" Sen. McCain, just how hard is that for you to understand, you stupid son of a bitch!
I am a citizen of the United States of America. I have the right, as recognized by the Constitution, to freedom of speech, political or otherwise. In fact, even a casual scholar of the Constitution knows that political speech was the primary reason for the speech provision of the First Amendment. How on earth did that slip by you? You're an educated man, sir. Surely basic reading comprehension is a skill you mastered long ago!
Now, to be fair, McCain and Feingold have issued a statement saying that they have no interest in regulating blogs.
That's sweet of them to say so, but if the law they sponsored and rammed through Congress authorizes such regulation, and it does, particularly with help from federal judges like Kollar-Kotelly, it's only a matter of time before some judge uses that authorization to do so, at which point, McCain and Feingold will lament the abuse of their work, then shrug and go back to getting re-elected.
It's bullshit! McCain and Feingold created a law that restricts political speech; that's unconstitutional on the face of it and I don't care what the SCOTUS said; they blew it on this one.
Of course, I'm not too surprised; judges and lawyers spend so much time twisting and evading the law, they've lost the ability to understand short, declarative sentences like "Congress shall not..." By the way, for all you folks out there who are anti-gun, remember when we 2nd amendment types talked about how distorting the meaning and ignoring the original intent of the 2nd amendment would undermine the integrity of the rest of the Constitution?
Welcome to our nightmare, you gutless cowards!
If you can't tell, I'm very angry over this crap. Nobody, and I mean nobody has the right to tell me what I can say or who I can link to. They may have the power to enforce their will on me, but not the right, and I will resist with every tool I have at my disposal, obviously starting with civil disobedience.
If the FEC passes any regulation that attempts to curtail my political blogging, I will not obey those regulations. I will not look to find ways to dispbey, but I will continue to write what I want, and link to what I want, and I will work to support others who do the same, and that includes web hosts, who are the ones who are really vulnerable to this crap.
