Veteran's Day

I was going to write something for today, a story from my Navy days, but I've got nothing that comes even close to what you'll read here.

That's why we have Veteran's Day; to honor men like him.

Rich, you served. America salutes you on your day.

Dear Rich and others,

Thank you for serving to defend our country, and our citizenry. What you are doing, and what others have done over the years, has been much appreciated by your fellow Americans, and we must never forget all that our heroic servicemen have given to us throughout our country's history, and continue to give in current times.

God bless all current and past military personnel!!

Today is the day that we are supposed to be reflecting on these things, but we need to have this type of mindset all throughout the year. Our heroes deserve no less.

Thanks to all of our brave soldiers who have served our nation in the past, and those who serve today. God bless you.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!

Thank you, SKB and Aakash.

I have to say though that I feel odd, applying the same word to my service as to the service of men who've actually seen combat. I spent almost 9 years in the Navy, relatively safe from danger from combat. I did serve during Desert Storm/Desert Shield, and did deploy to the Red Sea, but my most serious risk of injury was sunburn from staying above decks too long.

I'm not sure who's blog I read it on, but I think it makes good sense. Memorial day is for remembering those that died for us at war. Veterans day is for those who are still with us. I salute you both!!
Great article.
