Are they charging this kid because he proke the law, or because he embarrassed the crap out of the FAA, and the DHS?
I'm betting his legal defense fund gets a lot of donations.

We cant have people breaking the law just to prove a point even if it is a point meant in the well being of all. If he were not punished then we would have alot more people out there doing the same kinds of things and that could get dangerous. What if some psycho found those items while the plane was in flight and decided to use them to hijack the flight?
Posted by: Isaac on October 20, 2003 1:38 PMShould the kid's deed go unpunished? No. Should he be charged with a felony crime, with up to ten years in prison as the sentence? No. He didn't undermine public safety; he merely illuminated flaws that were already there. In my mind, that's a public service.

So you are going to tell me that box cutters and bleach are in every plane bathroom? You know if someone found those and hijacked the plane, you would be singing a different tune.
Posted by: Isaac on October 20, 2003 5:09 PMThe kid is a meddling do-gooder, but he stands accused of something more than just civil disobediance. My opinion is to punish him accordingly...not the full sentence, but NO slap on the wrist either. Sort of, thanks for pointing out our horrific flaws, now sit your ass in a cell.
