Iraqi Oil

Fox is reporting that Iraq has set its oil wells on fire.

I've got an idea on how to deal with this in a way to let the world know once and for all that it's not about oil.

Let 'em burn.

The French want the oil; let them deal with the fires. Seems fair to me.

Of course, we'd be more than happy to help them extinguish the blaze, like we did in Kuwait, but we're a little tied up right now. But I'm sure we could work a deal, send them some tech support folks for a few billion dollars or so.

I am just curious. How do they put an oil well fire out? Do they just cap it off to sufficate the fire or what?

just like a candle on a cake, they blow it out.

Seriously.

Of course, it takes a bit more wind than most people can summon up, so if Michael Moore is not available, they use explosives.

Yeah, umm..it's like a candle on a cake? Why can't they just dump water on it?

Water and oil don't mix, especially when that oil is on fire. That's wh if you have a kitchen fire, you smother it with salt, not water.

Will that not ruin the oil though? Is there no reaction between the salt and oil?

That is why i don't cook! =)

Hehe Erica thanks for pointing that out. What was I thinking when I said reaction? I guess I was thinking more along the lines of ruin. Does salt ruin oil and does salt dissolve in oil? I hope you will cook me a lovely dinner when I get home Erica.
