I don't know why I keep reading Lileks. It's so discouraging! He tosses off a bleat at the end of his day, no effort, no work, that just sings.
I don't know anybody else who could string together an upset stomach, The Odd Couple, a 50s writer I'd never heard of, but will now have to read, and Lady and The Tramp all in one post, and have it all come together at the end.
Someday I'll be able to write like that.
Ok, maybe not, but as long as I keep ahead of the million monkeys, I'll be satisfied.
No doubt about it, the guy's like a cross between Moses and Vonnegut. However, in my considered,(not humble), opinion, your writing is great. I wish you had a book or so out so I could turn off this infernal PC, at least for a while.
It was a real treat speaking with you Saturday, and I hope to do it again when I have more time. It was a terrific bunch and you are definitely the cruise director.

P.S. If you like Tolkien, try Robert Jordon's "Wheel of Time"
I'm waiting for RJ to put out the next book (delayed until January is the last I heard). I love the series. I started reading it just after The Great Hunt came out. I was in South Carolina for Radiation Control Monitor training, and stumbled across the series ina bookstore there. He had done a signing a few days earlier, and they had a few signed copies left. I bought one for grins, and I've been hooked since then.
Thanks for the compliment and the encouragement.
Signed, Julie, your cruise director.
