Islam is a religion of peace...

it says so right here on the label. That must have been a comfort to the folks who were burned alive by a mob.

More than 50 people were stabbed, bludgeoned or burned to death and 200 were seriously injured in the violence in predominantly Muslim neighborhoods, Nigerian Red Cross President Emmanuel Ijewere told The Associated Press.

At least four churches were destroyed, he said.

Many of the bodies were taken by Red Cross workers and other volunteers to local mortuaries. Many others remained inside homes that were set afire by the demonstrators, Ijewere said.

And the cause of this ruckus?

The protests were triggered by a newspaper article suggesting Islam's founding prophet might have chosen a wife from among contestants in the Miss World beauty pageant in Nigeria

Now, for those of you who equate Islamic fundamentalism with Christian fundamentalism, let me ask you a question. We've had images of the Virgin Mary painted in cow feces; we've had books published saying Jesus was gay; we've had singers ripping up pictures of the Pope on national TV; we've seen devout Christians pilloried in our media time and again as helpless morons at best or dangerous fanatics at worst; we've seen sacrilege of almost every kind imaginable put forth as art.

Anyone been burned alive for it?

Didn't think so.

At least no one's been burned alive since the early 1700s or so.

Really..., a mob of Islamasists that large having that many "readers"? Not likely, more likely "agent provacetoures" fanning the flames. Regardless, they're world-class "fools", who eventually will foment global retaliation against "ALL" Muslims. High profile idiots tainting all of the rest of the "red-necks", regardless of religion.
I'm astounded that western wealth has enabled a small group (family) of Arabs to endanger the entire world.
Newcomb, and I don't mean John, before they start the war that ends the world by FIRE.

hey uncle, if you are referring to the witches of salem, they weren't burned. They were hanged or drowned. Europe burned their witches.

A piddly point to be sure, but that's what we live for!

Ummm...didn't anyone ever hear of the Crusades, or of the Spanish Inquisition? Christianity is NOT a peacful religion. There IS no peaceful religion, as religion is one of the few things that can bring out the hatred in every human it touches, much like money and women...=)

Isn't it interesting how people who want to condemn Christianity keep referring to events 100, 200, even 1000 years ago. Last time I checked, Christians have no plans to launch a new Crusade. Unless you count Campus Crusade, and I hear they've sworn off torture as counterproductive.

As for there being no peaceful religion, I think Buddha, Ghandi and Mother Theresa might differ with you.

What Justin brings up is a common fallacy, balming an ideology for the actions of those who corrupt it. He would blame Jesus Christ for the actions of corrupt Popes. Should we also blame Karl Marx for the millions slaughtered by Joe Stalin?

An ideology, even religious based, can be peaceful; sadly, man cannot.

Ok let me start off by saying that from your display of a post on this site, it shows that you are racist. Second, those Arabs and so-called Muslims weren't really following Islam. There are many so-called Muslims out there abusing the name of Islam. Just by seeing the actions of these so-called Muslims, you are just going to cancel out Islam. Islam is a relgion of peace. And from your point of view, I don't blame you for saying that. Yet, if I see a mob of Christians doing that, I'm not going to go on thinking that Christianity is a bad religion. I'm just going to say that those people who did that were sinful. You should think about that before you post something against a religion!
